§ 116L.99 — Women and High-wage, High-demand, Nontraditional Jobs Grant Program

Plain-Language Summary

This section creates a grant program to help women enter high-wage, high-demand jobs where women are underrepresented, such as the skilled trades and STEM fields. The program gives priority to women of color, low-income women, and women over 50. At least half of grant funds must serve low-income women and women of color.

Practical Notes
If you are a woman interested in careers in the trades, STEM, or other fields where women make up less than 25 percent of workers, look for programs funded through this grant. Services include training, apprenticeship placement, mentoring, and support with child care, transportation, and housing.
