§ 135A.14 — Statement of Immunization

Plain-Language Summary

This law requires students born after 1956 at Minnesota colleges with more than 100 students to show proof of immunization against measles, mumps, rubella, diphtheria, and tetanus. Students can get exemptions for medical reasons or personal beliefs. Schools must also provide information about hepatitis and meningitis to first-time students.

Practical Notes
Most college students must submit immunization records within 45 days of starting classes. You can get a medical exemption from a doctor or a conscientious objection exemption with a notarized statement. Students who transfer between Minnesota schools do not need to resubmit their records if the transcript shows they were already filed.
