§ 136D.01 — Intermediate District

An 'intermediate district' is a cooperative school district created under state law that provides vocational education, special education, and other services to secondary, postsecondary, and adult students across multiple school districts.
136D.01 INTERMEDIATE DISTRICT.
“Intermediate district” means a district with a cooperative program which has been established under Laws 1967, chapter 822, as amended; Laws 1969, chapter 775, as amended; and Laws 1969, chapter 1060, as amended, offering integrated services for secondary, postsecondary, and adult students in the areas of vocational education, special education, and other authorized services.

Practical Notes
This definition applies throughout Chapter 136D. Intermediate districts allow smaller school districts to pool resources and offer programs they could not provide on their own.
