§ 142B.79 — Contractors Serving Multiple Family Child Care License Holders

Plain-Language Summary

This section allows contractors who work with multiple family child care license holders — such as drivers, cooks, or maintenance workers who regularly provide services at several homes — to ask the county agency to maintain a central record of their background study results and training compliance, so they do not need to provide that documentation separately to each license holder they serve.

Practical Notes
This central record option is voluntary and only applies to contractors serving multiple family child care homes. License holders who hire contractors should confirm whether the contractor’s background study and training are on file with the county agency before allowing the contractor to have direct contact with children. A disqualified contractor may not provide direct contact services regardless of whether county records are maintained.
