§ 142G.16 — Income Limitations

Plain-Language Summary

This section sets the income limits for MFIP eligibility. Your countable income (after certain deductions for work expenses, child care, and child support payments) must be below the family wage level for your family size. The income test covers a six-month period.

Practical Notes
When your income is checked, you get deductions for earned income, child care costs (up to $200/month per child under 2, $175 for older children), and court-ordered support payments. Your ongoing eligibility is reviewed each month. If your income drops significantly, you can request a recalculation.
