§ 142G.37 — Work Participation Cash Benefits

Plain-Language Summary

When you leave MFIP because of your earnings, you may qualify for a $25 per month work participation cash benefit for up to 24 months. To qualify, single parents must work at least 87 or 130 hours per month (depending on child age), and two-parent families need at least 130 hours from one parent.

Practical Notes
These payments help families transition from MFIP to full self-sufficiency. The months you receive work participation cash benefits do not count toward the 60-month MFIP time limit. You must exit MFIP with earnings to be eligible, and you cannot receive MFIP and these benefits at the same time.
