§ 147.162 — Medical Care Facilities; Exclusion

Every physician must tell the board which hospitals and medical care facilities they have privileges at, and update this list when they renew their license. This law does not give any physician a right to be admitted to a facility's medical staff.
147.162 MEDICAL CARE FACILITIES; EXCLUSION.
Each physician shall file with the board a list of the inpatient and outpatient medical care facilities at which the physician has medical privileges. The list shall be updated when the physician applies for license renewal. Nothing in this chapter grants to any person the right to be admitted to the medical staff of a health care facility.

Practical Notes
Physicians should update their facility privilege list with each license renewal. This information helps the board track where physicians practice and can be useful during investigations. Hospitals retain the independent right to grant or deny staff privileges.
