§ 149A.93 — Transportation of Dead Human Bodies

Plain-Language Summary

Dead bodies must be transported in a way that protects public health. The body must be in a leak-proof container during transport. Vehicles used to transport bodies must be enclosed and maintained in a clean, sanitary condition. Transport across state lines requires proper permits and documentation.

Practical Notes
If you are transporting a body out of Minnesota or receiving one from another state, proper permits and transit documentation are required. The vehicle does not need to be a traditional hearse, but it must be enclosed and sanitary.
