§ 152.105 — Disposal

Plain-Language Summary

Sets rules for how controlled substances and prescription drugs must be disposed of, following federal regulations. Every county sheriff must maintain at least one collection point where the public can safely drop off unwanted medications.

Practical Notes
If you have unused or expired prescription drugs, you can bring them to your county sheriff’s drug collection receptacle at no charge. The sheriff may also offer at-home drug deactivation kits as an alternative.
