2025 Session Last amended: 2024 session

§ 169.34 — Prohibitions; Stopping, Parking

Plain-Language Summary

You cannot park on a sidewalk, in front of a driveway, within 10 feet of a fire hydrant, in a crosswalk, within 20 feet of an intersection crosswalk, within 30 feet of a stop sign or signal, within 50 feet of railroad tracks, in a bike lane (unless signs allow it), or where signs say no stopping. You also cannot park a travel trailer on a highway for camping. The vehicle owner can be fined even if someone else parked it there.

Practical Notes
Know the common no-parking zones: 10 feet from fire hydrants, 20 feet from crosswalks, 30 feet from stop signs, and 50 feet from railroad tracks. Violations are petty misdemeanors with fines, but they will not affect your driver’s license.
