§ 169.48 — Vehicle Lighting

All vehicles must use headlights and taillights from sunset to sunrise, during rain, snow, fog, or any time visibility is poor. This section sets when vehicle lights are required.

Practical Notes
Turn on your headlights at dusk, in rain, snow, or fog. Your headlights must be on whenever you cannot clearly see 500 feet ahead.
