§ 169A.277 — Long-term Monitoring

Plain-Language Summary

Requires electronic alcohol monitoring for certain repeat DWI offenders who receive probation, including those with three or more DWI convictions in ten years, underage repeat offenders, and those whose licenses were canceled as a public safety risk. Monitoring must last at least 30 consecutive days per year of probation.

Practical Notes
If you are a repeat DWI offender on probation, the court will likely require you to wear an alcohol-monitoring device (like an ankle bracelet) for at least 30 days each year. You may have to pay for it.
