2025 Session Last amended: 2023 session

§ 16B.307 — Asset Preservation Appropriations

Plain-Language Summary

Asset preservation money from state bonds or other sources can only be used to maintain and repair existing state buildings, not to build new ones. Eligible projects include fixing safety hazards, removing hazardous materials like asbestos, repairing roofs and building systems, and fixing parking facilities. Up to 10 percent can be used for design costs for future projects. Agencies must report annually on how the money was spent.

Practical Notes
Asset preservation funds cannot be used for new construction or land acquisition. The money is strictly for keeping existing buildings safe and functional. Life safety projects get top priority. Agencies must submit annual reports listing funded projects and planned requests for the next legislative session.
