§ 16B.371 — Assistance to Small Agencies

Plain-Language Summary

This law lets the Department of Administration provide shared services like accounting, payroll, and human resources to small state agencies. The commissioner can require small agencies to use these shared services to save money and improve financial controls. Certain councils, including the Council on Latino Affairs and the Indian Affairs Council, must use these services.

Practical Notes
Small agencies receiving these services must enter into a service level agreement that spells out what services are provided and how much they cost. The agencies keep control over their own spending decisions and daily operations. The commissioner can charge agencies for the services and require them to follow state finance and human resources policies.
