§ 16B.4805 — Accommodation Reimbursement

Plain-Language Summary

This law creates a fund to help state agencies pay for reasonable accommodations for employees and job applicants with disabilities. The state will reimburse agencies for up to half the cost of qualifying accommodations. The commissioner must notify agencies each year that this money is available and report to the legislature on how it is used.

Practical Notes
Reimbursement covers accommodations for job applicants, ongoing or periodic accommodations for employees, and one-time expenses over $500 per employee per year. Up to 15 percent of the appropriation can be used for administration. The annual report to the legislature must detail the number, type, and cost of accommodations requested and whether the fund ran out of money.
