§ 16D.07 — Notice to Debtor

Plain-Language Summary

This section requires the state to send you a written notice before taking collection action on a debt. The notice must tell you the amount owed, who you owe it to, and your rights to dispute the debt.

Practical Notes
Before the state can garnish your wages or take other collection action, you must receive written notice. The notice tells you how much you owe and gives you a chance to dispute the debt or set up a payment plan.
