§ 177.45 — Attorney General Enforcement

Plain-Language Summary

The Minnesota Attorney General can enforce the state's wage and hour laws in addition to the Department of Labor and Industry. This gives the state another tool to go after employers who break the rules.

Practical Notes
If the Department of Labor and Industry is not handling your wage complaint, or if violations are widespread, the Attorney General’s office may also take action against the employer under its consumer protection and enforcement powers.
