§ 203B.19 — Recording Applications

Plain-Language Summary

When a county auditor accepts an absentee ballot application from a military or overseas voter, the voter's information is recorded in the statewide registration system. The record is kept for six years, and the voter does not need to register separately.

Practical Notes
Filing an absentee ballot application as a military or overseas voter also registers you to vote. Your record stays in the system for six years. If your application is rejected, the county auditor must tell you why.
