2025 Session Last amended: 2011 session

§ 204B.34 — Notice of Election

Plain-Language Summary

County auditors must publish a notice of each state election at least two weeks before the election. The notice must list the offices on the ballot, any ballot questions, and the hours the polls are open. City and school district elections have their own notice requirements.

Practical Notes
Election notices appear in local newspapers and are posted at government offices. They tell voters what will be on the ballot and when and where to vote. Check your county auditor’s website or local newspaper for election notices.
