2025 Session Last amended: 2025 session

§ 204C.10 — Polling Place Roster; Voter Signature Certificate; Voter Receipt

Plain-Language Summary

Before voting, each person must sign a polling place roster confirming they meet voter eligibility requirements, including being 18 or older, a U.S. citizen, a 20-day Minnesota resident, and not currently incarcerated for a felony. Providing false information is a felony punishable by up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine. After signing, the voter receives a receipt to exchange for a ballot.

Practical Notes
The roster signature is a legal declaration of your eligibility to vote. If your status shows a challenge, election judges must keep that information private from other voters. At a presidential primary, you must also state general agreement with the party whose ballot you choose.
