§ 205.84 — Redistricting; Cities With Wards

Plain-Language Summary

Cities with ward-based elections must keep wards equal in population and redraw boundaries after each census. First-class cities may require new elections for all seats.

Practical Notes
If a city fails to redefine wards after census data, the mayor and council lose their pay until they act.
