2025 Session Last amended: 2005 session

§ 211B.13 — Bribery, Treating, and Solicitation

Plain-Language Summary

It is illegal to bribe voters or give them food, drink, tobacco, or other treats to influence how they vote. It is also illegal to pay or offer money to someone to get them to vote or not vote, or to solicit bribes in connection with voting.

Practical Notes
Campaigns cannot offer voters anything of value in exchange for their vote. This includes providing free food or drinks at the polls as an incentive to vote a certain way. Both giving and receiving election bribes are violations.
