2025 Session Last amended: 2023 session

§ 244.51 — Reporting Required

Plain-Language Summary

Starting January 15, 2026, the commissioner must report annually for ten years on the Rehabilitation and Reinvestment Act. The report covers how many people earned incentive release credits and supervision abatement, the savings generated, victim input received, and demographic data. The commissioner must also get feedback from victim advocacy groups and have the department's research unit evaluate the program.

Practical Notes
The report must be sent to both legislative committees and six named organizations including victim advocacy groups and the Sentencing Guidelines Commission. It must include data on racial, ethnic, and gender disparities. The Department of Corrections research unit’s findings must be published on the department’s website. This 10-year reporting requirement ensures legislative oversight of the act’s impact.
