§ 245F.05 — Admission and Discharge Policies

Plain-Language Summary

This section requires licensed withdrawal management programs to have written admission and discharge policies that describe eligibility criteria and the admission process. The policies must be approved by the medical director and posted where patients can see them. Staff must be trained on these policies, and programs must give patients information about them at admission.

Practical Notes
Patients entering a withdrawal management program have the right to know the program’s admission and discharge criteria. If you are not admitted to a program, you can ask the staff to explain the specific reason based on their written policy. Programs must also have discharge planning to help patients continue their care after leaving.
