§ 256B.035 — Managed Care

Plain-Language Summary

Allows the state to contract with health plans to deliver health care through managed care to Medical Assistance and MinnesotaCare recipients. Contracts can only be with nonprofit HMOs or local government units, and may cover all or some health services.

Practical Notes
If you are on Medical Assistance, you may be enrolled in a managed care health plan instead of fee-for-service coverage. This section is the legal basis for those managed care contracts. Your health plan must be a nonprofit organization.
