§ 256G.07 — Moving to Another County

Plain-Language Summary

This section explains what happens when a person receiving human services moves from one Minnesota county to another. The old county must continue providing and paying for services for two full calendar months after the move. During that time, the old county must review eligibility and transfer records to the new county. The services you receive are based on what the county where you actually live provides.

Practical Notes
If you move to a new county while receiving services, you will not lose coverage. Your old county keeps paying for two full calendar months, giving the new county time to take over. The types of services available to you may change based on what the new county offers. If your case was closed for 30 days or less before you reapply, the old county remains responsible until the two-month period ends.
