§ 256K.48 — Transitional Housing Programs

Plain-Language Summary

This section establishes a grant program for transitional housing programs that serve homeless individuals and families. Transitional housing under this section is short-term independent living for up to 36 months, where residents pay at least 25 percent of their income in rent. Grants can also fund support services to help residents identify needs and move toward permanent housing.

Practical Notes
Homeless individuals and families may be able to access transitional housing programs funded through this grant program. Residents in transitional housing are expected to contribute a portion of their income toward rent and work toward achieving stable, permanent housing. Contact local homeless service agencies or county human services to find transitional housing options.
