§ 268.044 — Wage Reporting

Plain-Language Summary

Every Minnesota employer must file a quarterly wage report for each employee in covered employment, listing the employee's name, Social Security number, total wages paid, and hours worked. Reports must be filed electronically by the end of the month after each quarter ends.

Practical Notes
When this applies: Every calendar quarter for all Minnesota employers with employees in covered employment. Who this affects: Employers and their employees. Key points: Employers who fail to file on time face a late fee of at least $250. If you do not file within 30 days of being asked, the late fee doubles. Missing or wrong employee information costs $25 per employee. These wage reports are what the state uses to calculate your unemployment benefits if you lose your job, so inaccurate reports can affect workers.
