§ 268.0865 — Continued Request for Unemployment Benefits

Plain-Language Summary

To continue receiving unemployment benefits each week, you must file a 'continued request' certifying that you are still unemployed and meet all eligibility requirements. The commissioner assigns you a filing method (electronic or mail), and you must file within four weeks of the week for which you are requesting payment.

Practical Notes
When this applies: Every week you want to receive unemployment benefits in Minnesota. Who this affects: All Minnesota unemployment benefit recipients. Key points: You must file your continued request using the specific method assigned to you (electronic or mail). If filing electronically, you must use the designated address, phone number, or website and provide all required information. If filing by mail, the form must be completely filled out and signed. You must file within 4 weeks of the benefit week or your request will not be accepted. If you miss the deadline, you can only get benefits for that week if you show ‘good cause’ – a reason that would prevent a reasonable person from filing on time. Forgetting to file, losing the form, or returning to work are not good cause.
