2025 Session Last amended: 2024 session

§ 290.0123 — Standard Deduction

Plain-Language Summary

Sets the Minnesota standard deduction amounts. Married couples filing jointly get $27,650, heads of household get $20,800, and single filers get $13,825. Senior and blind taxpayers get an extra deduction.

Practical Notes
Most taxpayers use the standard deduction instead of itemizing. If you do not own a home or have large deductible expenses, the standard deduction is usually the better choice.
