§ 309.52 — Statement Requirement

Plain-Language Summary

This section requires charitable organizations to register with the Minnesota Attorney General before asking people for donations. The registration must include the charity's name, officers, tax status, fundraising methods, and copies of contracts with professional fundraisers. A $25 registration fee is required.

Practical Notes
Charities that receive more than $25,000 in contributions must register within 30 days of reaching that threshold. The registration statement must be signed by two officers. If a charity fails to file its annual report on time, its registration expires and it cannot solicit until it catches up. Special rules apply for crime-tip reward organizations.
