§ 31.102 — Definitions, Standards of Identity; Temporary Permits

Plain-Language Summary

This section adopts federal standards for food identity, quality, and container fill as Minnesota standards. The commissioner can also issue temporary permits for shipping experimental food products within the state.

Practical Notes
Food products sold in Minnesota must meet the same identity, quality, and fill standards required by federal law. If you want to test-market a new food product that does not yet meet standard requirements, you can apply for a temporary permit.
