§ 352B.10 — Disability Benefits

Plain-Language Summary

This section establishes the disability benefit amounts. Duty disability benefits provide a higher percentage of salary than regular disability benefits because the injury happened while performing dangerous job duties. Total and permanent duty disability provides the highest benefit level. Benefits may be offset by workers' compensation payments.

Practical Notes
The type of disability you have significantly affects your benefit amount. Duty disability pays more than regular disability because it is caused by work. If you also receive workers’ compensation, your disability benefit may be reduced to prevent double payment.
