§ 382.02 — Vacancies, How Filled

When a vacancy occurs in an elected county office, the county board appoints someone to fill the rest of the term.
382.02 VACANCIES, HOW FILLED.
Any appointment made to fill a vacancy in any of the offices named in section 382.01 that has not been made appointive under chapter 375A or other general or special law shall be for the balance of such entire term, and be made by the county board.

Practical Notes
The county board has the authority to fill vacancies in county offices. The appointed person serves until the end of the original term.
