§ 394.307 — Temporary Family Health Care Dwellings

Plain-Language Summary

This law allows a temporary mobile dwelling to be placed on a caregiver's property to care for a mentally or physically impaired family member. The dwelling must be no more than 300 square feet, meet accessibility standards, and connect to the main home's utilities. A permit is required.

Practical Notes
The initial permit is valid for six months and can be renewed once for another six months. The county must decide on the permit application within 15 days (30 days if the board meets monthly). Only one impaired person can live in the dwelling, and only one such dwelling is allowed per lot. Counties may opt out of these requirements by resolution.
