§ 3E.07 — Preservation and Security of Legal Material in Official Electronic Record

Plain-Language Summary

The official publisher must preserve and secure electronic legal material. If the material is kept in electronic form, the publisher must protect its integrity, have backup and disaster recovery plans, and make sure it stays usable over time.

Practical Notes
This ensures that electronic versions of Minnesota’s laws are not lost due to technology failures, disasters, or format changes. The publisher must plan for long-term preservation so legal material remains accessible in the future.
