2025 Session Last amended: 2002 session

§ 403.10 — Cooperative Agreement

Plain-Language Summary

Government agencies in different 911 systems that share a border can agree to help each other during emergencies, even across county or city lines. The agency in charge of the area where the emergency happens must always be notified. Counties and agencies can also make agreements to share the costs of running the 911 system.

Practical Notes
This allows emergency responders to cross jurisdictional lines during an emergency. If a fire truck from one county is closer to your emergency in another county, a cooperative agreement lets them respond. Cost-sharing agreements are made under the Joint Powers Act (section 471.59).
