2025 Session Last amended: 2013 session

§ 403.382 — Statewide Emergency Communication Board

Plain-Language Summary

The Statewide Radio Board may vote to expand its role and become the Statewide Emergency Communication Board, taking on additional responsibility for coordinating 911 service statewide. As this expanded board, it plans and oversees Next Generation 911 services, sets performance standards for 911 systems, and coordinates broadband and other public safety communication networks. This gives one body oversight of both the ARMER radio system and 911 services.

Practical Notes
If the Statewide Radio Board elects to become the Statewide Emergency Communication Board, it gains authority over 911 system standards and planning in addition to its radio system duties. Counties and cities working on 911 upgrades must align with plans and standards set by this board.
