§ 444.20 — Taxes

Plain-Language Summary

The city or town council can levy a tax on all taxable property within a storm sewer improvement district. This tax pays for the cost of building, maintaining, and improving the storm sewer system, and for paying off any bonds. The tax only applies to properties within the district boundaries described in the ordinance.

Practical Notes
If your property is inside a storm sewer improvement tax district, you will see this tax on your property tax statement. The tax money can only be spent on the storm sewer district that collected it. It is collected along with your regular property taxes through the county.
