§ 477A.015 — Payment Dates

Plain-Language Summary

This section sets the dates when the state pays local government aid to cities and counties. Payments are normally made in two installments: July 20 and December 26 each year. Special rules allow earlier payments when a local government suffers a natural disaster or has cash flow problems.

Practical Notes
Local governments depend on these payment dates for cash flow planning. When a natural disaster is declared, early payment of the December installment can be critical. Cities and counties can also request early payment if they demonstrate a need to meet short-term cash obligations.
