§ 48A.19 — Out-of-state Trust Institution Representative Trust Offices

Plain-Language Summary

Out-of-state trust institutions can establish representative trust offices in Minnesota for limited activities like marketing. These offices cannot accept new trust accounts or make investment decisions. The institution must notify the commissioner before opening a representative office.

Practical Notes
Representative offices from out-of-state trust companies have the same limitations as in-state representative offices. They can market services but cannot conduct full trust business. Notice to the commissioner is required.
