§ 504B.195 — Disclosure Required for Outstanding Inspection and Condemnation Orders

Plain-Language Summary

Landlords must give tenants and prospective tenants copies of any health or safety code violation orders or condemnation orders for the rental unit. Current tenants must receive notice within 72 hours, and prospective tenants must be told before signing a lease or paying rent. This right cannot be waived in a lease.

Practical Notes
If a housing inspector has found serious problems with your building, your landlord must tell you. If you are apartment hunting, the landlord must disclose code violations before you sign anything.
