2025 Session Last amended: 2015 session

§ 505.04 — Real Estate Taxes; Recording; Copies

Plain-Language Summary

A plat can be recorded with the county recorder or registrar of titles only after all current real estate taxes are paid. Copies must be made available for public inspection. The county auditor can request a copy at county expense.

Practical Notes
Before you can record a plat, you must get a certificate showing that current year’s property taxes are paid. The official plat is a public record that anyone can inspect. If your property includes both registered and unregistered land, the plat goes to both the recorder and registrar of titles.
