§ 507.24 — Recordable, When

Plain-Language Summary

To be recorded at the county recorder's office, a deed or other real estate document must be legible, properly signed (executed), and notarized (acknowledged). Documents must have original signatures unless they are filed electronically following the state's electronic recording rules.

Practical Notes
If your deed is not notarized, the county will not record it. Documents signed outside of Minnesota can still be recorded if they follow the laws of the place where they were signed.
