2025 Session Last amended: 2010 session

§ 514.20 — Sale

Plain-Language Summary

This section allows a lienholder to sell the property if the debt is not paid within 90 days. For motor vehicles with a title, the lienholder must give 45 days' notice by certified mail to all secured creditors before selling.

Practical Notes
If someone does not pay for your services within 90 days, you can sell their property to recover what you are owed. For titled motor vehicles, you must notify lenders 45 days before the sale. Failing to give proper notice makes the lien unenforceable against title lienholders.
