The rules in this part help interpret wills when the language is unclear. They apply unless the will itself says otherwise.
524.2-601 SCOPE.
In the absence of a finding of a contrary intention, the rules of construction in this part control the construction of a will.

Practical Notes
If a will is ambiguous or does not cover every situation, courts use these rules to figure out what the person probably intended. The will’s own language always takes priority over these default rules.
