2025 Session Last amended: 1990 session

§ 571.915 — Release of Funds

Plain-Language Summary

Allows either the debtor or the creditor to direct the bank to release frozen funds to the other party at any time after the garnishment summons is served, by providing a written release.

Practical Notes
If you reach a settlement or payment arrangement with the creditor, the creditor can send a written release to your bank to unfreeze your account. Similarly, if you agree that the funds are not exempt, you can authorize their release to the creditor.
