§ 5B.07 — Data Classification

Plain-Language Summary

This section classifies almost all data about Safe at Home participants as private. The secretary of state can share private data with the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, which can then share it with law enforcement for emergencies or investigations. Even a participant's consent cannot authorize release of their address.

Practical Notes
Your address and personal information in the Safe at Home program are strongly protected. Not even you can authorize its release. Law enforcement can access the information only through a specific process involving the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, and only for emergencies or active investigations.
