§ 626.52 — Suspicious Wounds; Reporting by Health Professionals

Plain-Language Summary

This section requires doctors, nurses, and other health professionals to report gunshot wounds, bullet wounds, and other injuries caused by firearms or dangerous weapons to police. Health professionals must also report serious burn injuries to the state fire marshal. People who report in good faith are protected from lawsuits.

Practical Notes
You would care about this if you go to a doctor or hospital with a gunshot wound, suspicious injury, or serious burns. The doctor is required by law to report it to police or the fire marshal.
