§ 62S.10 — Policy Summary

Plain-Language Summary

When a life insurance policy includes long-term care benefits, the insurer must provide a policy summary at delivery. The summary must explain how long-term care benefits interact with the life insurance death benefit, show the amount and length of benefits, and list any exclusions.

Practical Notes
If you have a life insurance policy with a long-term care rider, using the long-term care benefits will reduce your death benefit. The policy summary must clearly explain this tradeoff so you can make informed decisions about when to use these benefits.
